Internships at The Works are are great way to learn about careers that work together to create a successful non-profit museum.
Art Gallery Intern
Assist with installation of art shows, tear down of shows, and help with art openings. Other duties could include researching possible future exhibitions, interacting with public in gallery space and helping to create Family Gallery guides for upcoming exhibitions.
Development Intern: This internship provides a unique opportunity to learn many aspects of development—special event coordination, corporate and foundation relations, and individual and major gifts work.
History Education Intern
This Intern will report directly to the History Educator and be expected to assist him/her with the development and implementation of educational programming. Programming includes school tours, outreach programs, interactive exhibits, and special events. The intern may be asked to assist the History Educator or other educators teaching small groups of children or adults.
Museum Education Intern
Interns will work with the Museum Education Director, History Educator, Science Educator and Works Volunteers to help educate and engage guests on the museum floor. Interns will learn the science behind all of The Works exhibits, cognition carts, as well as, being able to create hands-on programming of their own. The first priority of this intern will be to provide a positive experience for The Works guests. Along with working as a Museum Educator with guests this intern will also be given the opportunity to create programming to appear at Special Events and during busy times at The Works museum. And other duties as assigned.
Work with the Director of Marketing on a wide range of museum collateral, including web site copy, media release, radio commercials, social media posts, photography and design.
